"Lisbon - Alfama"

 

This unique lantern is a perfect centerpiece for your table or as a beautiful gift. Inspired by Portugal’s charming cobblestoned streets and my love for candlelight, it is a one of a kind functional piece of art. The themed lantern is handcrafted by me – Karen Kelleher Carneiro, signed and dated.

 

The candle creates a warm glow through the image and colorful lace paper, creating magnificent shadows and ambient light.

 

The decorative glass lantern/candle holder has a transparent photo transfer of a street scene in the Alfama district of Lisbon, Portugal. Layered with translucent lace-like paper, which has been painted in orange, yellow, red and gold/copper metallic transparent inks.  Enhanced with patina rubbed copper leaf and metallic skeleton leaves. Metallic copper braided trim lines the top edge. The piece has a protective gloss varnish and a felt lined bottom.
