This unique Sardine box is handcrafted and signed by Karen Kelleher Carneiro. A perfect home for jewelry, keepsakes or as a beautiful gift. Inspired by Portuguese culture and the sea, it is a one of a kind functional piece of art. 

The painterly look of the wooden box was created with tissue paper and inks in blues, greens and purples protected with a glossy resin finish.

The lid is layered with resin for a dimensional appearance with colorful and whimsical sardine illustrations. Adorned with a starfish, dried moss, glass beads, green and purple glass chips, metallic glitter flecks and rhinestones. The sides are a continuation of the sardine school with rhinestones, glass chips and metallic glitter flecks. The lid is hinged in the back with a front latch and fishing fly. The bottom is felt lined with painted wooded legs.

The interior is painted a dark bluish purple and varnished. The padded bottom is lined with a brightly patterned fabric from Africa. The interior lid is decorated with tissue inked in blues, greens and purple, sardine illustrations, rhinestones and a blue beaded trim.
