This unique Poppy box is the perfect home for jewelry or keepsakes for you or as a beautiful gift. Inspired by nature, it is a one of a kind functional piece of art. The themed box is handcrafted by me – Karen Kelleher Carneiro, signed and dated.

 

The wooden box has been enhanced with copper leaf and patinas in red, green and brown. Protected with a glossy resin finish.

 

The decorative lid has a photo of a poppy framed with a recycled jewelry piece and dangling carnelian stones. A collage adorns the lid with photos of poppy fields, dried poppies and fern leaves, layered with encaustic wax and gold leaf. Embellished with golden birds in flight. The sides have dried poppies and fern leaves with a sepia colored satin trim wrapping around the top. The lid is hinged in the back with a front latch. The bottom is felt lined with decorative beads for legs.

 

The interior is painted a metallic copper and varnished. The bottom is padded and fabric lined with tan satin. The interior lid has a mirror is decorated with sepia colored satin trim.
